Roman Missal, Third Edition, Presbyteral Gathering . . . will take place on Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Monsignor Kevin Irwin, of The Catholic University of America, will be the speaker. Registration information was sent to all of the priests of the Diocese of Cleveland on September 3, 2010. Sacrament of Reconciliation for priests . . . the Blessed Sacrament Fathers at Saint Paschal Baylon Rectory in Highland Heights are available weekdays from 8:00 am until 9:00 pm for any priest of the diocese who would like to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. While there is always a priest on duty, you might want to call 1-440-442-3410 before arriving just to make sure or if you would like to schedule an appointment. Thanks to the priests of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament for providing this service to the priests of our diocese.
Priests & Deacons . . . Are you planning your vacation and anticipating exercising public acts of priestly/diaconal ministry in the local Church were you are vacationing? Remember, you need a "Testimonial of Suitability" sent to the Diocesan Bishop before you arrive on your vacation. . . . This same requirement is necessary for any priest of deacon who is anticipating exercising any public acts of priestly/diaconal ministry outside his place of incardination. Please contact Father Lawrence Jurcak at ljurcak@dioceseofcleveland.org) and he will see that the appropriate documentation is sent to the Diocesan Bishop of the place where you are planning to visit.
Planning your vacation and need help covering sacramental and liturgical obligations while you are away? . . . Please contact Father Don Oleksiak (doleksiak@dioceseofcleveland.org or me (ljurcak@dioceseofcleveland.org) to obtain a revised list of priests who are available for coverage. A number of priests have volunteered to provide this assistance to their brothers while away.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION - a reminder to all clerics that Bishop Lennon has mandated the use of the Prepare/Enrich set of inventories to replace the CDEM. The first set of trainings for the use of these inventories took pake place in January - April of 2008. Future trainings are posted on the diocesan Family & Marriage Website at www.clevelandcatholiccharities.org/mfm.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has added an extensive section to their website detailing the changes that will come with the implementation of the new Roman Missal, sometime in 2011. The link that accesses that section of the USCCB website is http://usccb.org/romanmissal/
That section of the USCCB website, Third Edition, Roman Missal - from the Committee on Divine Worship, explains, "This website has been prepared to help you prepare for the transition. As this site continues to be expanded, you will find helpful resources for the faithful, for the clergy, and for parish and diocesan leaders."
Office Mission: The Office of the Secretary and Vicar for Clergy and Religious is charged with the responsibility of providing "ministry to the ministers" serving the people of the Diocese of Cleveland. Some of these ministries include: administrating policies pertaining to the life and ministry of priests, deacons and members of institutes of consecrated life; wellness issues; vocations; formation of candidates for ordination to priesthood and diaconate; infirmed priests; retirement; and, in collaboration with the Secretary for Parish Life and Development, oversight of the Center for Pastoral Leadership. The office oversees the offices of Clergy Personnel, Diaconate, Religious, Vocations to Diocesan Priesthood, Senior Priests, and Continuing Education and Formation of Ministers - as well as the Priests' Retirement Board, Borromeo Seminary and Saint Mary Seminary and Graduate School of Theology.
